Occupational Exposure Limits
OEL
Occupational Exposure limits are compound-specific exposure limits intended to provide a level at which adverse effects are unlikely to occur in a worker who is exposed 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, for a lifetime.
This health-based risk assessment is often requested by Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) or Contract Research Organizations (CROs).
Relative to the OHC, OELs are written for a technical audience, and will include detailed information to justify a numerical limit.
These reports are most appropriate for pharmaceuticals that have completed non-clinical testing and Phase II clinical trials or later.
