Occupational Health Categorizations
OHC
The occupational health categorization (OHC) is a health-based risk assessment, developed to guide appropriate manufacturing and worker handling for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) with limited information.
An OHC is appropriate for early-stage, novel pharmaceuticals currently in non-clinical testing or Phase I clinical trials, or for investigational compounds about which little is known.
This report is often requested by Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) or Contract Research Organizations (CROs).
These reports are 2-3 pages long, written for a non-technical audience, and include summarized information about hazard and risk.
We will categorize each compound according to your company’s internal Categorization System (usually 2-5 categories).
Each category corresponds to a range of acceptable worker exposure, and internally prescribed handling practices. This report may also be used for effective communication of hazard and risk to your workers, or outside contracting companies.
